Dee Lola

Every dream has a beginning. This is ours.

Welcome to Rancho DeeLola, our little piece of country life in North East Ohio, where we’re turning five acres into a place to grow food, enjoy nature, create memories, and build something meaningful for the future.

Why Rancho DeeLola?

The name Rancho DeeLola is very special to me.

“Dee” honors my mother, Delores, and “Lola” honors my grandmother, Lola Mae. Naming the property after these two women connects what we’re building today with the generations that came before us.

This isn’t just a name for a piece of land. It’s part of our family’s story.

Starting With Five Acres and a Dream

When I first imagined Rancho DeeLola, I knew I wanted more than a house in the country.

I wanted a place where we could grow our own food, spend more time outdoors, welcome family and friends, enjoy the wildlife around us, and learn how to become a little more self-sufficient.

We’re starting where we are and building it one project at a time.

We’ve already begun creating our raised-bed garden using wood from our own property. We’re growing vegetables, herbs and flowers for pollinators. We’re learning about the land, watching wildlife, tackling projects around the property, and discovering that country living usually comes with another project waiting around the corner!

Some things work exactly as planned.

Others definitely don’t.

I plan to share both.

What You’ll Find Here

The Rancho DeeLola blog will be our place to document the journey—from the successes we’re proud of to the lessons we learn along the way.

I’ll share our experiences with gardening, homesteading, wildlife, DIY projects, country living, and the continuing transformation of the property.

You’ll probably also see plenty of birds.

Rancho DeeLola is a work in progress, and I think that’s what will make this story interesting.

You don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin.

Sometimes you just have to plant the first seed.

The Homestead

There will be gardens to grow, projects to finish, mistakes to learn from, wildlife to watch, and plenty of stories to tell.

I’m glad you’re here at the beginning.

Welcome to Rancho DeeLola. Let’s see what we can grow.
